From what i noticed last night:
Other then the multiple things one must do to avoid death (slime puddles, malliable goo, wandering plague)
DPS uptime on the slime/gas cloud should be a high priority.

Although this is a fairly poor example, there are people that could impove their uptime.
Up until the last attempt, a few ranged and a handful of melee improved their uptime on slimes to a point where the boss would only be active for 1-2 seconds in the phase transition. In phase 2 the up time on adds is proportional to how fast you force him into phase 3. (less chance of screwing up)
The stacking up on the slime in the phase change of phase 2 (with hunters rotating snake traps) seems to work very well. I suggest people make power auras for the debuffs 'Ooze Variable' and 'Gas Variable'. Any addition to up time will obviously benifit the raid in DPS on the boss and in dying from silly things.
From the few attempts we had last night it seems like we had awesome progress.
Lets hope we do even better tonight
