View Full Version : MT wearing NR gear for Anub
Here is a discussion of why wearing NR gear is good including the list of enchants/gear that the druid used:
http://wowthinktank.blogspot.com/2009/10/generalnature-resist-for-anubarak.html
the bottom line is this:
Resisted damage does not heal Anub.
"In other words, the resistance was the equivalent of 6k DPS done to the boss."

Just my own list of NR that I have come up with:
130 NR from Nature Resistance Totem (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=58749)
30 NR from Signified Ring of Binding
25 NR from Runed Ring of Binding
25 NR from Arcanum of Toxic Warding (-7 stamina and -20 defense)
20 NR from Enchant Cloak - Superior Nature Resistance (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=44494) (-16 defense)
50 NR (+32 if Alchemist) from Lesser Flask of Resistance (-1300 health)
70 NR (Leatherworking) from Fur Lining - Nature Resist (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=57699) (-40 stamina)
So you can obtain:
280 NR (51% resist) if you do not have Alchemy nor LW
312 NR (56% resist) if you have Alchemy but not LW
350 NR (63% resist) if you have LW but not Alchemy
382 NR (69% resist) if you have both Alchemy and LW
Add an additional 2% reduced spell damage from Effulgent Skyflare Diamond
And an additional 2% reduced chance to be hit from Nature Resistance (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=20551) (Tauren)
Or an additional 2% reduced chance to be hit from Magic Resistance (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=822) (Blood Elf)

I love how they included the health that was not healed. That is fucking huge. if we can get 8k dps per tank this fight is ours. It will be such a joke for tank healing and dps.
I notice that 2 dps dead completely evens out dmg done to health gained ratios, causing the boss to sit at the same % until a wipe occurs. So that change would be equivalent to a 150% dps increase to the boss, making the fight take 33% as long.
Maybe I'm wrong and it is more like 4-5 dps dead before the boss heals more than we can deal dmg, but that still decreases the length of phase 3 significantly for the loss of a very mininal amount of stats.
I don't think it would hurt for the tanks to reserve these rings in the 10 and 25man Onyxia raids for Anub.

Okay, on last night's best attempt, when I look at only phase 3, Nuke took 4x the damage from leeching swarm than he did from the adds, and Towelliee took 2x the damage from leeching swarm than he did from the adds. Now add in the fact that all that extra damage is healing the boss and I say that it is a very good idea for them to both try to pick up these resist sets.
This while give them much more survivability in that phase and give less strain on the healers, and those 20% wipes will be more like 10-15% wipes.

Well the problem is that the adds are "bursty" damage, while the swarm is "consistent" damage. We should definitely seek to mitigate the bursty damage more than the consistent damage, but maybe 4x is too much.
If there are places in their gear that they can switch out for NR enchants without losing block value, then they should do it. Otherwise, it isn't worth it.

So you can obtain:
280 NR (51% resist) if you do not have Alchemy nor LW
+ 150 from Acclimation is 430 which amounts to a whole 75% ?
Yes...at the cap it shd reduce 75% of damage.
